RECLAIM THE CITY:

German-Ukrainian youth exchange on

participative citizenship and urban activism

Preliminary program

Berlin

Day 1 - Arrival, Ice Breaking, getting to know each other. Presentation of the program.

Setting the common ground – expectations and fears of the participants. Team building activities in the city.

Day 2 - Setting the common ground – expectations and fears of the participants. Team building activities in the city.

Day 3 - Group brainstorm. Creative activism – expert input. Urban game.

Day 4 - Creative activism – tool of urban gardening. Group brainstorm and sharing. Visit to best practices.

Day 5 - Creative activism – tool of street art. Group brainstorm and sharing. Visit to best practices.

Day 6 - Free time. Agents for change – mapping the areas of improvement.

Day 7 - Agents for change – groups discussions about the problems in their neighbourhood. Creative session – solutions of creative activism.

Day 8 - Creative session – solutions of creative activism. Evening – public event of presentation of the participating initiatives.

Day 9 - Project documentation. Learning Outcomes. Evaluation. Final evening.

Day 10 - Follow up. Departure.

Ukraine

Day 1 - Arrival, Ice Breaking, getting to know each other. Presentation of the program.

Day 2 - Re-building the team – urban game. Participant sharing session – what has changed since the last meeting – PECHA KUCHA

Day 3 - Group brainstorm: map of the creative activism. Session “tools for planning and implementing the action”

Day 4 - Session “tools for planning and implementing the action”.

Day 5 - Division in groups. Travel to venues (Novogradovka and Dobropillya)

Day 6 - Observation, gathering data. Afternoon – group brainstorm for suitable action.

Day 7 - Preparation and implementation of the action.

Day 8 - Travel to common venue in Kharkiv. Preparation and processing the documentation of the project actions. Sharing session between the team. Public evening - “artist talk” format.

Day 9 - Project documentation. Learning Outcomes. Evaluation. Final evening.

Day 10 - Follow up. Departure.

The quality of the project depends very much on YOUR INPUT, IDEAS and INITIATIVE.

 

What do we expect from you as participant?

• full commitment to the program of the encounters. We would like to emphasize the importance of this issue and encourage you to take seriously participation in the sessions, respect the schedule for both program activities and free time;

• participate in the project from its very first till the very last day. If you would like to stay some days or after the encounters in the country, please let us know. Accommodation and food for additional days will not be covered;

• involved in daily tasks;

• share responsibility by making suggestions for group activities, discussions, visits, workshops;

• commit to a group experience and to making decisions and solving problems together;

• respect rules of the hosting project.
